Background
Where?
Osani is a rural community of 8000+ people situated in Homa Bay District, South Nyanza, Western Kenya. Homa Bay is a port and fishing town on the shores of Lake Victoria. People travel there for many hours to reach their nearest hospital.

Why the need?
This community has no safe water or health care provision. Many of them trust in witch-doctors or traditional healers.
- As many as 46% have HIV/AIDS.
- Child-birth related complications cause the death of many mothers and babies.
- Malaria and typhoid are endemic.
- An epidemic of measles can claim many childrens' lives.
- Worms and malnutrition are the constant companions of many children.
